I wanted to take the time this morning to provide information on the status of our Track and Field Project. As most of you are aware, we had some very untimely rainfall this Spring/Early Summer. It was not only untimely, but we had large amounts of rainfall at the same time. The rainfall not only set back our project but others around the state which led our project to not get started on time. Due to other unforeseen circumstances, the project did not get completed this fall like planned. We are currently pouring concrete on the interior of the track for the Pole Vault, Javelin, and High Jump. Once that is completed we will be working on the Discus, Long Jump, and Triple Jump runways. The goal is to get this portion completed and then work on the asphalt/rubber portion of the track this upcoming Spring. Due to this set back, we will likely not be able to host any meets at Mound City in the Spring of 2022.
I want to be upfront and let the public know the status of the project. It is not ideal by any means, however with a project like this we want it to be done right. Please be patient, thank you!
