Good morning Panther Nation!
The last Wednesday of the school year. Mark your Friday calendar for 6 to 6:30 p.m. This is an opportunity to say “see you later” to your school staff and for them to see students for the last time of the regular 2019-20 school year. Several MCR-2 employees will be in the front yard at school or on the sidewalk on Nebraska Street. If you can come on by to help us close up shop for the summer, it would be appreciated.
As we close the school year on such unanticipated terms, I want to say thank you again for the commitment you students have made in getting an education virtually the fourth quarter. I can’t thank our parent/guardians enough for the undeniable sacrifice you all have made in this “stay at home” order. Please know that our school board, teachers, support staff, and administrators sincerely appreciate your efforts in this strange end to a school year.
We had a birthday party for Kendey last night. Joeigh did the lion’s share of cooking her sister Kendey’s favorite meal, spaghetti with hamburger ladened sauce. Joeigh and Payton (a NWMSU basketball teammate of Kendey’s) made the cake and icing from scratch. Mrs. Eaton, Prent (our son) and I were most impressed with the fact that we didn’t do much in the effort. Well, Prent did stir the sauce while it was cooking on chef Joeigh’s orders. Mrs. Eaton and I just watched the whole thing come together and enjoyed the fact that maybe, just maybe we did something right while trying to raise them up to be self-sufficient. With this whole virus thing, poor Kendey had to buy her own ice cream in Maryville and bring it to her own birthday party. We did at least make the effort to get her birthday presents…… oh wait she wanted running shoes. She is kind of particular about them so she picked them out too. We did actually pay for them, so I guess it’s the paying for them that counts! Ironic isn’t it, she wanted running shoes, but she just had knee surgery and will need more surgery so she won’t be able to run for several months …. I guess she got walking shoes that are made for running!
During this stay at home time, I have witnessed our son do his State of Missouri Children’s Division job. He is a social worker that deals with infants that are involved in problematic family issues. Joeigh has a part-time job with Easter Seals in parent education. I have watched them deal with their jobs over the last few weeks from the kitchen table. This is where we all set up our offices and do our work. I have been impressed with their ability to communicate with in their perspective work environments. No, I don’t eavesdrop I just hear them speak in a job specific professionalism and it is awesome to know that their foundation for this all came from the Mound City School system and their teachers, as well as the entire staff. Great job MCR-2! I always say this is type of thing is contributed to top down leadership! I am joking of course. But, seriously we have a great staff. Our school is a family.
I am so confused about my retirement, why am I leaving such a great work environment/family? All good things must come to an end, was said by somebody famous. It has to be true…. it was on the internet….
