Homecoming 2016-A great Day

Day #27 Today is a Great Day!

Administrative Assistant’s Day was yesterday.  I think that Mrs. Loucks and Mrs. Loucks as well as Mrs. Edwards and Mrs. Knapp don’t mind the title secretary, instead of the ritzy fashion title administrative assistant.  They are the front line of communication for our school district.  They offer people a cheery greeting and never seem to mind being interrupted.  I know that it has to annoy them a bit when they are in the deep thought on some required government report, but they always hide their frustration!  I think that secretaries are a special kind of person in that way.  Thanks for doing your jobs with pride and well!

Our daughter Joeigh and I got a “facetweet” call last night from my nephew, niece in-law and great nephew (Jeremy, Timmie, and Tyler I told you there was a shout out for ya'all - they live in Arkansas!).  It was great to hear from them and to see their faces on my tiny old cell phone (as my kids call it).  They were like the rest of us, getting tired of being cooped up like chickens at night, but almost all was well with them.  I also got a text from our former Sheriff Scott Wedlock, relaying his appreciation for my “wisdom” blog yesterday.  Turns out some people are still reading them.  Honestly, they are written more for my sanity and to make sure our students/parents/community supporters still know that I, and all of our school employees and school board members would like nothing more than school and our world to go back to normal!  It isn’t anytime soon, but we must keep the faith that it is going to return!

Mrs. Eaton got a call yesterday……. I had wrapped up work at the office (kitchen table) about 1 pm.  I got up and started work on school budget work at 4:30 am, not sure why, no alarm was set, no rooster crowed, I just woke up and started.   After the school work, I headed out to the barn/shop and was welding on some panels for the calving pen.  I am always hearing voices when I’m welding, grinding, and banging on stuff.  I think it is because I didn’t wear hearing protection when I was young (that is a direct hint to you young folks – don’t listen to music too loud and always wear hearing protection when mowing, cutting metal or whatever is too loud!).  Or, I might be a bit crazy and just hear things.  Anyway, I thought I heard Mrs. Eaton yelling, I flipped up the welding helmet and looked, nothing…went back to welding and heard it very loud this time.  She ran into the shop (mind you, she NEVER comes out there unless something is wrong) I froze--- but to my confusion she had the most beautiful smile on her sweet face that I so love.  I shouted “what’s wrong,” she replied, “I got the call.”  I said “what call?”  She said “the call for a heart.”  This thing just got real.  For those of you that do not know, she has been on a heart transplant list for several months now.  We shouted praises, said words of peace/comfort for the donor’s family, went in the house, grabbed all of her machines and a bag of clothes, a couple of toothbrushes, and headed to Omaha.  She is scheduled for surgery at 1:30 pm today. It’s going to be Great day!  Grab the ones you love, or someone that you kinda love and give them a social (physical) distance hug.  Students-- keep up the good work, don’t give up or quit, you will regret it.  There is no substitute for intrinsic motivation---if you don’t work hard and have faith in yourself, who will?  Every day is a great day----if you chose it to be.

 Stay Healthy!
